NFL preseason betting: Oakland at Tennessee

Vince Young

There's only one preseason game on the NFL Friday night schedule, as the Oakland Raiders head to Tennessee to battle the Titans

Oakland started the preseason with a win last week after knocking off San Francisco 18-6 in a game that was listed as a pick'em. JaMarcus Russell started for Oakland, but only completed two-of-five passes for 13 yards before exiting after the first quarter.

Andrew Walter ended up taking the majority of the snaps and completed 10-of-12 passes for 82 yards.

Rookie running backs impressed in the win, with Darren McFadden and Michael Bush both looking good in limited duty. McFadden rushed for 48 yards on 12 carries, and Bush racked up 27 yards on eight carries with a touchdown. That was Bush's first game in nearly two years after he suffered a bad broken leg at the end of his college career.

The Titans also posted a win in their preseason debut last week, downing St. Louis 34-13 as a 3-point favorite. Vince Young barely saw the field and completed three-of-six passes for 17 yards. Kerry Collins stepped in and completed 7-of-16 passes for 105 yards.

The Titans' main offensive output in the win came on the ground, where a number of different backs totaled 340 rushing yards. Quinton Ganthers did his best to try and secure a spot on the team by rushing for 115 yards on eight carries with two touchdowns, while Chris Johnson also had a strong game with six carries for 77 yards and a touchdown.

The Titans and Raiders clashed in Tennessee last season, when the Titans edged Oakland 13-9 as a 7-point favorite. According to the trends neither the Titans nor the Raiders are in a good position to cover the spread on Friday night.

In their last 18 preseason road games the Raiders are a lousy 3-14-1 against the spread, while the Titans are only 1-5 ATS in their last six preseason contests at home.

In Friday night's game the Titans are a 5-point favorite on the NFL preseason odds menu at , and if their defense steps up they should be able to stop the inexperienced Raiders offense. Watch the Titans rumble to another win and easily cover the spread.
