Rambo leads favored Stamps in CFL play

Week 2 of the CFL season kicks off on Thursday night when Hamilton and Toronto clash in an all-Ontario matchup, while Calgary and Edmonton square off in this season's first Battle of Alberta.

The Tiger-Cats began this season with a loss last week, as they fell to Montreal 33-10 as a 2-point underdog. Quarterback Casey Printers struggled to keep the offense moving while completing 15-of-21 passes for 203 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.

Running back Jesse Lumsden had a poor game on the ground with 36 yards on nine carries. Hamilton's lone touchdown in the game came on a long 75-yard TD run from Tre Smith.

The Argonauts got their season started on the right foot with a 23-16 upset win over Winnipeg as a 2.5-point road underdog. Kerry Joseph and Michael Bishop split the quarterbacking duties in the win, as Joseph passed completed 9-of-17 passes for 73 yards, while Bishop completed 6-of-14 passes for 111 yards with a TD pass.

Running back Jamal Robertson had a solid all-around game with 36 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries, and three receptions for 66 yards and a TD. Kicker Mike Vanderjagt's return to the CFL was as rocky as his last season in the NFL as he connected on only two-of-five field goal attempts.

Toronto was 3-0 against Hamilton last season and they have won nine straight against Hamilton overall. The oddsmakers at Pinnacle Sportsbook expect an easy Toronto victory in this game, setting the Argos as a 10.5-point favorite.

The Stampeders, meanwhile, started off the season with an impressive 28-18 win over BC as a 3-point underdog last week. Henry Burris picked apart the Lions, completing 22-of-32 passes for 274 yards with two touchdown passes and an interception and he also ran in for a score.

Ken-Yon Rambo led all receivers with eight receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown, while running back Joffrey Reynolds rumbled for 125 yards on 23 carries.

The Eskimos' season got off to rocky start, with a 34-13 pounding at the hands of Saskatchewan as a 4-point underdog. Ricky Ray completed 25-of-36 passes for 249 yards with an interception, as the Eskimos were kept out of the end zone in the rout.

Damien Anderson rushed for 45 yards on 12 carries, while Jason Tucker hauled in four catches for 78 yards. Kicker Noel Prefontaine was responsible for all of Edmonton's scoring with four field goals and a single.

Calgary owned the Eskimos last season, going 3-0 against them. In Thursday night's game another Calgary win could be on tap, as they are 4-point road favorites at , which offers superb lines and great prices to Canadian and international clients.
