With seven races left before The Chase begins the Sprint Cup Series roars into Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend.
Kyle Busch made his seventh stop at victory lane two weeks ago at Chicagoland Speedway, and he'll likely be the driver to beat again at Indy. At least, that's what online oddsmakers at sportsbooks such as are saying with their AllState 400 at the Brickyard odds.
Busch's win at Chicagoland in the LifeLock.com 400 was one of his most impressive so far this season, as he passed Jimmie Johnson with only a few laps remaining to secure the victory.
Busch increased his lead over Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the driver standings to 262 points, and his series-leading seven wins basically make him a lock for top spot once the Chase begins. Busch, of course, is the favorite this weekend, listed at +500 at .
Following Busch in the odds list at is Kasey Kahne at +650. Despite having two wins on the season Kahne seems like a strange choice for second place on the odds list this week. Kahne has only one Top 10 finish in his last four races and he's struggled mightily at Indy the last couple of years.
After recording a pair of Top 5 finishes in his first two starts at Indy in 2004 and 2005 Kahne followed that up with a dreadful 36th-place finish in 2006 and an even worse 40th place finish last year.
Speaking of last year at Indy, Tony Stewart claimed his second checkered flag in three years at that event, having also won this race back in 2005. Due to his inconsistent performance this season, which his seen him go winless so far, Stewart is a +800 underdog to add a third NASCAR win at Indy to his long list of accomplishments.
Before Stewart's win last season Johnson triumphed at Indy in 2006, while Jeff Gordon won at Indy in 2004. Johnson, who just missed out on what looked like a sure win at Chicagoland, is a +700 underdog to win this weekend.
Gordon, who leads all drivers with four career wins at Indy, is a NASCAR longshot at at +1600. Gordon's other three wins at Indy occurred in 2001, 1998, and 1994. If Gordon were to add a fifth win to his total this weekend it would finally snap a lengthy winless streak that has lasted all season.
If you are a NASCAR fan or fantasy player who has never wagered on NASCAR, it makes sense to check out the ways you can beat the spread and win big [1].
