Get to the Point

By Jimmy Harris

Jimmy's been getting ready for Week 1 of the NFL preseason, which is amazingly just around the corner.

Kudos to the NFL schedule makers for placing the Colts in this year's Hall of Fame Game. Giving the Colts an extra preseason game should give me another easy win. I won't be surprised one bit if the Colts go 0-5 both straight-up and ATS in the preseason.

The Colts are a horrible 3-11 ATS in their last 14 preseason games, and they'll be even worse this year with no Peyton Manning, who will likely miss every game while recovering from knee surgery. I'll take the Redskins in the HOF game, and most likely I'll be betting against the Colts in all of their preseason tilts.

I'm also going to be watching Green Bay very closely throughout the preseason. If you don't know all the Favre-induced craziness that the Packers have had to deal with already you must have been living under a rock.

If Brett Favre eventually shows up in Packers camp I may bet against Green Bay throughout the preseason. I already know I'm taking Cincinnati over Green Bay in Week 1 of the preseason.

Two years ago in the preseason the Bengals blasted the Pack 48-17, and that was long before Aaron Rodgers was responsible for the franchise's fortunes.

Rounding out my preseason watch list are the Jacksonville Jaguars. I'm intrigued by new Jags wideouts Troy Williamson and Jerry Porter, because of the simple fact that David Garrard now has someone to throw to who is a real threat.

With two new receivers in the starting lineup the Jags may play them and Garrard a little more in the preseason to get them acquainted with one another in game action. Keep an eye out for some news on playing time from Jack Del Rio.
