NASCAR rolls back into Pocono Raceway this weekend for the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500, hoping to avoid another catastrophe like the tire saga that plagued them at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last weekend.
For the first time in what seems like months points leader Kyle Busch isn't the favorite in this weekend's race. At the favorite is Denny Hamlin at +500. In 2006 as a rookie Hamlin dominated at Pocono, as he swept both races on the track. In five career races at Pocono Hamlin's worst finish was sixth, and he turned in a third-place finish in the Pocono 500 earlier this season.
Kyle Busch follows Hamlin on the odds list at along with Kasey Kahne, both at +550. Busch had his worst drive of the season at Pocono earlier this season, when he finished dead last in the Pocono 500. Kahne, on the other hand, had one of his best weekends of the season at Pocono, as he won the Pocono 500.
Next on the odds list at +600 is Jimmie Johnson, who braved last week's horrendous conditions at Indianapolis to win the Allstate 400 at The Brickyard. Johnson owned Pocono back in 2004 when he swept both races held on the track. If Johnson can build on the momentum he gained at Indy last week and record another win at Pocono it could be a battle between him and Busch once The Chase begins in seven weeks.
The leader in career wins at Pocono in this weekend's field is Jeff Gordon. Gordon has won at Pocono four times previously, with his last win coming last season in the Pocono 500. Gordon is still winless this year, and if he can finally return to victory lane this weekend he'll do it as a +1200 underdog at .
